Interim General Manager, TikTok US Data Security

Andy Bonillo is the Interim GM of TikTok US Data Security (USDS), which is focused on enabling TikTok’s continued growth in the US market. The USDS organization is responsible for bringing heightened focus and governance to TikTok’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its data protection policies and protocols, further protect its users, and build confidence in its systems and controls in the US.

Before TikTok, Andy was appointed as the first CISO of Ciena Corporation, a telecommunications networking equipment and software services provider. He joined Ciena after serving as the Global Head of Information Security at AIG, where he built and led AIG’s Global Cyber Risk Defense Center to protect the integrity of the Financial Insurance market. Previously, Andy was the Director of Cyber Security and Public Safety for Verizon Communications, where he led the company’s next-generation incident response platform initiatives, invented and commercialized a managed security service threat detection product, served as an advisor to the General Counsel on public policy and cyber security matters. The globally recognized executive and consultant has helped shape the strategic and operational visions for over 150 Fortune 500 companies, as well as responded to and investigated the world’s largest data breach incidents.

Before joining the private sector, Andy served as a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service where he led the largest cybercrime investigation in US history and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the US Attorney General. He has been recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation for his support in the fight against Terrorism. He has provided physical protection to the President of the United States, former Presidents, and world leaders at various threat levels. He applies his physical security mindset to IT and data security.
